Hemlock, White Pine, Hard Pine, Heart Pine & More

Species from throughout the East Coast come together seamlessly in the gorgeous new space of South Boston’s Capo Restaurant. Heart Pine, reclaimed from the Boston Rubber Shoe Company in Melrose, Massachusetts was used for the rear bar and in the kitchens. Northern Hard Pine, salvaged from a Pennsylvania bank barn (circa 1890), was used for the rear tables.

Eastern white pine boards recovered from 9 Park Street, on Beacon Hill, were used for the front bar, booths, and banquettes. Additional white pine decking from a Pennsylvania horse barn was used for tables.

The café tables (not shown) were built from red and white oak salvaged mainly from Pennsylvania barns, and reclaimed hemlock for the rear room walls came from the Slein Barn in New Braintree, Massachusetts.
