Brockton, MA
Founded in 1898, W.B. Mason is the largest privately held office supply dealer in the United States. Headquartered in the town of Brockton, Massachusetts, the company is in the process of sprucing up their flagship office building.
Founded in 1898 by New Zealander William Betts Mason, W.B. Mason was originally opened for business in Brockton, where it has remained for over 110 years. After a century of expansions, re-brandings, and great success, the company is now renovating the 18,000 square feet of fourth and fifth story space in their downtown Brockton office building.
The five-story brick building, located on Centre Street, features an incredible mural of Fenway Park’s famous Green Monster, complete with the iconic Citgo sign, Jimmy Fund decals, and fans sitting in the recently-constructed monster seats.
During the demolition phase of the project, Longleaf Lumber was lucky enough to get the call to salvage hundreds of the building’s original spruce joists, the majority of which were in immaculate condition. After de-nailing, kiln-drying, and chopping of the damaged portions of the joists, these pieces will make spectacular table stock, wall paneling, and skip-planed spruce flooring.
Who bought W.B. Mason’s spruce joists? If you look closely in the above photo, you can see our tiny truck in front of W.B. Mason’s Green Monster. This wood will be available for sale as soon as we can find someone brave enough to take all of these nails out.
