Bright-Planed Heart Pine Paneling

Heart Pine is our cornerstone product and our favorite wood to work with. Unmatched in depth of color and tone, our antique Heart Pine is available in six grades, ranging from delicate, refined lines and quartersawn elegance to the post-industrial knot and nail-hole-ridden visual landscape of our Naily Buckshot and #3 grades. Our grading system is calculated for accurate matching of existing floors and consistent aesthetics in new surfaces. Heart Pine is sometimes called Longleaf Pine (Pinus palustris), Southern Yellow Pine, and Yellow Pine.

Once regaling North America’s southeastern savannah in expansive groves, the standing timber has long been romanticized by writers, naturalists, and woodworkers alike. Decimated at the turn of the century by irresponsible harvesting practices, the species’ strength, stability, and density made it a favorite among builders during the Industrial Revolution. Today, the lumber is reclaimed from Industrial Revolution buildings, linking homeowners, restaurateurs, and others with American antiquity, industrial ingenuity, and contemporary values of conservation and responsible, green building.

Longleaf mills 3/4” and 1/2″ tongue-and-groove Heart Pine paneling in 2.5”-8.5” widths and wider, with special order. Extra wide plank and custom profile (triple-bead, micro-bevel, v-groove, etc.) paneling can be milled to order.
