Nonotuck Paper, built in 1879, was one of the original paper mills built in Holyoke Massachusetts - "Paper City". The company's buildings were beautifully built brick and timber affairs with exquisite slate roofs. Amazingly, the original slate roofs never failed for the one hundred and twenty one years before dismantling began. Longleaf Lumber has salvaged the original white pine roof decking from beneath the slate.
Exposure to the heat of the attics and slate has toned the white pine to a deep amber honey tone and the nail pattern from the slates has left the boards with a beautiful rustic character. If the naily side is too rustic, flip the boards over! The underside of the boards has far fewer nail holes.
