FORE RIVER BRIDGE:
QUINCY, MA

The Fore River Bridge in  Quincy Massachusetts was built in 1933 just below the giant Fore River Shipyard.  Thousands of ships have passed under this drawbridge through the decades including the USS Wasp and the USS Massachusetts, both built at the shipyard.  By 2004 the bridge was beyond operational repair and demolition began.  Longleaf Lumber has salvaged the original Hemlock pilings which helped support this structure.

The blue clay of Boston Harbor has penetrated the grain of these timbers and imbued the blond wood with a smoky blue/gray cast.  Widths range from 4" to 10", lengths 4' to 14' (most boards are 8'+).  We will mill this material either square edged or tongue and groove.
